Cedar Rapids Builders Association endorsement of Monica Vernon

The Cedar Rapids Builders Association, Governmental Affairs Chairman Brian A'Hearn, announced today the Associations endorsement of City Council Candidates Monica Vernon (2nd District), Chuck Swore (4th District), and Tom Podzimek (At Large) for election November 6, 2007, to the Cedar Rapids City Council.

The Association is supportive of the manner in which Chuck Swore has focused on proper city budgeting procedures and prioritizing of issues which need to be addressed for community consensus. The Association believes Swore's acquired experience on the City Council is an asset the City needs to retain.

A'Hearn noted how impressed the Association was with the many years of community service donated by Monica Vernon and were of the belief her background of involvement in issues now being faced by the City will provide the Council with the insights necessary for making vital decisions. Decisiveness is the main strength she would bring to the City Council.

Tom Podzimek, the Association believes, is a very stabilizing person on the Council and has shown good judgment in making the tough decisions which were necessary in moving from the Commission form of government to the present Manager form.

The Cedar Rapids Builders Association is comprised of general contractors, electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, construction material suppliers and subcontractors from the Cedar Rapids area.

A'Hearn urged all eligible voters in Cedar Rapids to participate in the City Council Elections on November 6, 2007.
