CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO, has endorsed candidates Tom Podzimek, Chuck Swore and Monica Vernon for seats on the Cedar Rapids City Council.

The endorsements come after the group, which represents nearly 5,000 workers in the Corridor, interviewed candidates who had sought the backing.

Vernon is running as a challenger in District 2, Swore is the incumbent in District 4, and Podzimek is the incumbent in the at-large race on the Nov. 6 ballot.

They earlier were endorsed by the Hawkeye Labor Council and Linn Area BizPAC, the political action committee of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
