Vernon will be a leader you can count on

Monica Vernon is someone you can count on. It is my pleasure to support her for the District 2 seat on the Cedar Rapids City Council.

I have known Vernon both personally and professionally over the past 25 years as we have worked together on community projects. It is hard to imagine a more worthy candidate for this position. Her integrity, leadership and “can do” spirit make Vernon an ideal choice for our City Council.

Vernon has served as chair of the Cedar Rapids Planning and Zoning Commission, the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Linn County Regional Planning Commission. She is a founder of the Downtown Visioning Group, Fifteen in 5 and the Madge Phillips Shelter. She runs a successful market research business, which is celebrating its 20th year of operation. In addition, Vernon is actively involved with her family. Her list of school involvements is impressive.

Among her priorities are economic development, safety of neighborhoods, accountability and transparency of government and fiscal responsibility ...
 “getting back our share of dollars sent to Des Moines.” She will not be afraid to step out and lead the way to get things done. Her great vision and energy will represent all of us well.
