Vernon has vision to take city in new direction
Reprinted from The Gazette, Tuesday, October 16, 2007, page 4A

We enthusiastically support Monica Vernon and encour age voters to elect her as the District 2 representative of the Cedar Rapids City Council.

We need council members who have both the vision to explore new and creative opportunities and the determination to manage the city’s business with a shrewd eye toward economic viability. Vernon has the experience and the dedication to guide our city at this critical time.

Vernon has served as the chair of the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce and the Cedar Rapids Planning and Zoning Commission, positions that have prepared her for the important work our City Council will be called on to do in the next few years. She understands the dynamics of the business community, and she has worked tirelessly to lead Cedar Rapids to take a creative and responsive look at how we can improve both our economic base and the quality of life we experience here with our families. As a founder of both the Downtown Visioning Group and the Fifteen in 5 project, she has already played an important role in encouraging an exciting new direction in city planning.

We have known Vernon for nearly 30 years and are convinced that she is a proven community leader, a thoughtful decision-maker and a careful listener.
