Vernon wants to involve more residents on issues

A couple of years ago, Monica Vernon gave a luncheon talk where she shared her vision of a community that was more inclusive rather than exclusive. She talked about ways in which Cedar Rapids could involve more residents in the civic discussions while also being more welcoming to outsiders.
The speech inspired a healthy discussion among the hundreds present. I’m a 30-something mother of four and I’d like to see Vernon get into office as the City Council District 2 representative and continue to find ways to include all residents. Her monthly district meetings idea will be a great start.
