Vernon takes the lead when she gets involved

Long before the petitions for the 2007 City Council election were filed, Monica Vernon had been working hard for the city of Cedar Rapids. I have worked with Vernon for the past five years on the board of directors for the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, during which time Vernon served as its chair.
Vernon commits the time to thoroughly learn the issues, to listen to opposing views and to build consensus.
When Vernon gets involved in any of the numerous civic and charitable organizations on which she has served, she does not take a back seat.
She comes prepared with research, with information from stakeholders and with a willingness to listen to opposing views and new ideas. Her past 25 years of leadership and civic involvement in Cedar Rapids make her an ideal choice for our City Council.
